Please Answer With Solutions

Answers:

1.  A = [tex]\frac{91}{2}[/tex] or 45.5 sq.m

2. 643 [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] or 643.5 kilograms of rice

3. 48 [tex]\frac{3}{5}[/tex] or 48.6 tbsp of butter

4. P973.00

Step by step process:

1.  Area = Length x Width

        A = 8 [tex]\frac{2}{3}[/tex] x 5 [tex]\frac{1}{4}[/tex]

           = [tex]\frac{26}{3}[/tex] x [tex]\frac{21}{4}[/tex]

        A = [tex]\frac{91}{2}[/tex] or 45.5 sq.m

2. Total amount of rice = 198 x 3 [tex]\frac{1}{4}[/tex]

                                  =  [tex]\frac{198}{4}[/tex] x [tex]\frac{13}{4}[/tex]

                                  =  [tex]\frac{2574}{4}[/tex] or [tex]\frac{1287}{2}[/tex]

                                 = 643 [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] or 643.5 kilograms of rice

3. Total amount of butter = 3 [tex]\frac{3}{5}[/tex] x 13 [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex]

                                       =  [tex]\frac{18}{5}[/tex] x [tex]\frac{27}{2}[/tex]

                                        =

                                       = 48 [tex]\frac{3}{5}[/tex] or 48.6 tbsp of butter

4. Cost of linen cloth = P72.00/yd x yds.

                                    = x

                                   =    or P27.00

Change = P1000.00 – P27.00

               = P973.00

Additional Information:

There are 3 simple steps to multiply fractions

1. Multiply the top numbers (the numerators).

2. Multiply the bottom numbers (the denominators).

3. Simplify the fraction if needed.

EXAMPLES:

1.   [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] x [tex]\frac{2}{10}[/tex]

Step 1: Multiply the top numbers (the numerators)

1 x 2 = 2 (2 is the new numerator)

Step 2: Multiply the bottom numbers (the denominators)

2 x 10 = 20 (20 is the new denominator)

Step 3: Simplify

Since [tex]\frac{2}{20}[/tex] is the new fraction, it can be simplified as  [tex]\frac{1}{10}[/tex]

Answer: [tex]\frac{1}{10}[/tex]

2.   [tex]\frac{1}{3}[/tex] x [tex]\frac{5}{15}[/tex]

Step 1: Multiply the top numbers (the numerators)

1 x 5 = 5 (5 is the new numerator)

Step 2: Multiply the bottom numbers (the denominators)

3 x 15 = 45 (45 is the new denominator)

Step 3: Simplify

Since  [tex]\frac{5}{45}[/tex] is the new fraction, it can be simplified as  [tex]\frac{1}{9}[/tex]

Answer: [tex]\frac{1}{9}[/tex]

3.  [tex]\frac{2}{3}[/tex] x [tex]\frac{2}{8}[/tex]

Step 1: Multiply the top numbers (the numerators)

2 x 2 = 4 (4 is the new numerator)

Step 2: Multiply the bottom numbers (the denominators)

3 x 8 = 24 (24 is the new denominator)

Step 3: Simplify

Since  [tex]\frac{4}{24}[/tex] is the new fraction, it can be simplified as  [tex]\frac{1}{6}[/tex]

Answer:  [tex]\frac{1}{6}[/tex]
