Try to recall a significant experience that you had an event in your life that you consider as memorable.
Answer:
This happened 7 years ago but the whole scene is still fresh in my mind.
I stood in front of the class when the question I dreaded was asked. I tried to hold my poise and my voice from quivering.
“Why didn’t you take classes in the last two weeks? What happened? We missed dance!” One of my students asked me. With her hand on her hips this 10 year old wanted to know.
“I… was not well.” I said with a tear rolling down my face which I swiftly brushed off by changing my position. I had lost my father and had a miscarriage within a span of 60 days. The latter happened when I was alone with no people around that I could share with, not even my husband.
“What happened? Fever?” Asked another.
My bottled up emotions suddenly went out of control. The blood clots and the pain hauntingly came back.
“Yes. Somewhat. Let’s start the class, shall we?”
“Are you okay now?” Asked another 8 year old coming near me. My chest felt heavy and the tears started rolling again.
“Yes. Let’s go.”
“Then why are you crying?” I sat on the chair and the kids came up to me all concerned. I tried to stop the tears but they were hell bent on coming out.
“I am sorry. I just remembered the.. the.. the pain.”
“Stomach pain?” Asked a cute little girl with two ponytails sitting beside me.
“Yes. Stomach pain.” I said. “Very bad stomach pain.”
“I understand. I had once too. I cried a lot. Mummy made me good soup then I was better.”
I remembered my mom sitting 1000 kms away unable to help.
“Are you crying because you are missing your mother?” Another one asked me.
“Yes. That too.” I said and the next moment two of them hugged me. Soon others followed and I was given massive group hug. Tears rolled out again in abundance.
“Should I tell my mummy to make you soup today?” That adorable little girl asked me.
“No dear. Thank you. I am fine.”
“This is why I will never get married.” Said another one who was quiet till now. “We will have to leave our moms and go away to someone else’s mom.”
We were still in a group hug and the little one near me hugged me tighter.
“The pain will go away. You will feel better. Don’t worry. See I got better. You will too.” She said. Others muttered in agreement and I was overwhelmed with all the love.
The feeling of loneliness that I had was long gone as I was nestled against those small adorable arms which gave me strength to move on in life.
